The image of the Department depends on the personal integrity and discipline of all Department employees. To a large degree, the public image of this Department is determined by the professional response of the Department to allegations of misconduct by the Department or its employee’s.

The Albany County Sheriff’s Department, Office of Professional Standards was established to deal with these issues. This Office is comprised of two separate units, Internal Affairs and Inspections.
