The Emergency Medical Services Unit is charged with the
provision of providing Emergency Medical Services (EMS)
at both the Advanced (ALS) and Basic (BLS) Life Support
levels to the areas of the County without a dedicated system,
or areas that require on-duty personnel to assure a timely
response to emergency calls. Currently there are both ALS
and BLS personnel working in the towns of Berne, Bethlehem,
Coeymans, New Scotland, Rensselaerville and Westerlo. 
The Emergency Medical Services Unit is a non-transport service. The Unit's
mission is to provide state of the art pre-hospital care to the participating
municipalities. This service is provided in such a manner as to insure the dignity
of each patient is preserved as well as considering the emotional and physical
needs of the patient. This service is provided with the safety of the practioners,
patients, and general public as a paramount concern.
