The Office of the Fire Coordinator is authorized under section 225-a of County Law and is designed to serve the County fire service by developing and maintaining programs for fire training, fire service related activities and mutual aide.

The Office also acts as a liaison between the County Fire Advisory Board and the Albany County governing bodies, in implementing programs for fire service.

In Albany County the Fire Coordinator has been appointed and serves in the capacity of the Regional Fire Administrator (RFA).
